MALE CHEST

Gynecomastia

A flatter, more comfortable chest contour.

Gynecomastia is an enlargement of breast tissue in males. It can be caused by hormonal changes, medications, weight, or have no clear cause, and it can feel uncomfortable or affect confidence.

Surgery is planned around what the chest contains: glandular tissue, fat, excess skin, or a combination. A consultation helps sort out which applies to you and whether other causes should be checked first.

These existing pages explain closely related options in detail, including what they involve, recovery, scars and risks.

02

How the options differ

  • Mostly fat. Liposuction may be used to reduce fatty fullness and refine the contour.
  • Glandular tissue. Firmer gland tissue is generally removed through a small incision, often at the edge of the areola, sometimes together with liposuction.
  • Excess skin. If skin is loose after significant weight loss or long-standing enlargement, additional skin removal may be discussed, which involves longer scars.

Questions worth asking

  • What is causing my enlargement, and should anything be checked first?
  • Is my chest mostly fat, gland, or skin?
  • Where would my scars be?
  • What is recovery like, and when can I exercise?

Start with a conversation

A consultation covers your goals, an examination, the options that suit your anatomy, and the risks and trade-offs, so you can decide at your own pace. It might lead to surgery, to a different procedure, or to no surgery at all. Booking a consultation is not booking surgery.
